“I do not usually leave reviews; however, after sharing my experience with this firm on TikTok, I came to realise that what I experienced was not a microaggression, but overt aggression.

Last year, while walking past this law firm, I decided to enquire about potential internship or volunteer opportunities. At the time, I was a college student and required part-time voluntary work as part of my course. As I approached the entrance, before I had even fully stepped through the door, a man seated at the front desk, facing the entrance, abruptly stated, “We don’t do visa applications.” I would not normally raise concerns of discrimination lightly; however, I genuinely believe that had I been white, I would not have been addressed in such a dismissive and presumptive manner before even having the opportunity to explain the purpose of my visit. Although I initially tried to brush off the incident, the treatment left a lasting impression. Making assumptions about someone’s immigration status before asking any questions or understanding why they are visiting is entirely inappropriate. This behaviour is unacceptable in any professional setting ,particularly within a law firm, where fairness, respect, and impartiality should be fundamental values.
