I instructed Eaton Smith to advise on a contractual dispute concerning the interpretation of a termination clause.

Unfortunately, the service I received fell well below my expectations. The issue I asked them to advise on was very specific. Rather than addressing that issue directly and explaining the reasoning behind their conclusions, I received advice that largely restated the contractual wording and factual background that I had already provided. When I queried the reasoning and asked for clarification, I was told that further explanation would require an additional fee. The most frustrating aspect was not the conclusion reached, but the repeated failure to engage with the actual question being asked. Throughout the matter, and later through the firm's complaints procedure, I repeatedly raised the same concern. Rather than addressing it, the response was simply to insist that adequate reasoning had already been provided. There were also numerous administrative problems including delays, incorrect use of email addresses, poor communication and a general lack of attention to detail. Taken together, these issues created the impression of a firm that does not listen carefully to its clients or properly follow instructions. What should have been a straightforward request for professional guidance resulted in additional confusion, unnecessary stress and ultimately a dispute with the solicitors themselves. Based on my experience, I would not instruct Eaton Smith again.

I recently had the misfortune of dealing with Eaton Smith Solicitors ( Elle and Lindsay) are there names) and I must say that the negative reviews are completely correct.

I strongly advise against using their services as it caused major heartbreak and unspent time with my children(still ongoing) , they wrote out a family court sheet what the client never even mentioned or said to make the father look out to be as bad as possible to get his kids removed from him. The reviews are correct they’re full of dissatisfied clients. Save yourself the trouble and find a family solicitor that actually helps the situation than making it worse with lies to exaggerate the situation.

Both Zahra Nawaz and Nicola Hinchliffe who handled my divorce recently both acted very professionally and diligently throughout.

Just as importantly for me their uplifting and pleasent attitudes made the process as bearable as it could be. I recommend their services highly. Thank you both, Anthony

Sadly I do agree with a number of the other bad reviews for this company.

Used these guys recently for a civil property dispute, I agree with previous comments saying "charged like a raging bull"! Attended court on one of the occasions only for the entire day to be unrequired (but still billable to the client e.g me) Ramped up eye watering amounts of bills for a simple case, solicitors pushed for mediation with a party that clearly did not intend on mediating, putting me on the back foot .Mediation was wildly expensive and not the route I wanted as my proposal was for us to propose a stay on the proceedings to the judge, due to preferred alternative routes being available than court. Nobody seemed to support the alternative (cheaper and less risky) routes. Ultimately agreeing and pushing to mediate with an opposing party not willing to was just forcing yourself into giving in, which the solicitors must know from so much experience. Backed into a corner on a strong case, when the other side refused to settle, my own legal advice was to give up even on a strong case or risk bankruptcy levels of costs (£80-120K+ was quoted). If this was the best advice I wish I had received it at the outset before incurring £20K+ legal fees to get nowhere. The whole legal system is rigged to extract as much money as possible from the clients in the dispute.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Eaton Smith twice now, and both experiences have been fantastic.

Chris assisted me with the EULA for my indie game, and his kindness, thoroughness, and incredibly fast email responses made the entire process seamless. Later, when I needed a solicitor for my prenup, I immediately turned to Chris, who connected me with Zahra. She was just as professional and kind, going above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. She even caught an error in our documents at 8 PM on a Friday and reached out immediately to help us fix it. Their level of attentiveness and professionalism is truly exceptional, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of legal services.
