I've been thinking: what is the highest praise I can give Oliver Fisher, and the solicitor I dealt with there - Jo Shortland - in particular? Ordinarily with legal firms, you'd probably imagine it would be something to do with the way they/she had conducted (and won) the case. Or the reassurance and support they had given me while preparing it etc. And I am definitely going to take this opportunity to say how impressive it was seeing Jo's easy but super-sharp insight and legal expertise at work close-hand. Whenever I talked about the details or history of the case, the way Jo and her assistant Barbara listened and responded was always very perceptive and hugely encouraging. What I admired and appreciated even more was how kind and friendly everyone, from the receptionist onwards, was. The other solicitors were happy to offer their advice or help if they could. And the office dog was too. Above all, Jo Shortland is a wonderful person and a fiercely loyal, extremely committed, legal eagle/force of nature. She went well beyond the normal parameters of the job for me more than once. The highest praise i can give Oliver Fisher and Jo in particular is that every time I had an appointment I always felt better for being there and seeing her most of all. .
