I was disappointed by the way this firm handled correspondence following my mother's death. The firm held my mother's will and was aware that she had passed away, yet I received a letter referring to obligations under a Lasting Power of Attorney and suggesting I was not acting in my mother's best interests if a debt was not paid. As solicitors should know, a Lasting Power of Attorney ends on death and matters then proceed through the estate and probate process. I found the tone of the letter insensitive and unnecessarily threatening, particularly while probate was ongoing and the estate was being administered. I would have expected greater accuracy, professionalism and compassion from a firm dealing with bereaved families. This was my experience and unfortunately it left me with a poor impression of the service provided.
