I instructed Carlsons Solicitors in Whetstone to represent me in a complex family law matter involving my daughter. It was one of the most important legal matters of my life, which is why the level of service I received was so disappointing. My experience with Richard Higham and the firm did not meet my expectations. I expected proactive case management, clear strategic advice, prompt communication and specialist family law expertise. Instead, I often felt I was chasing updates and that my case was progressing far more slowly than it should have. I also raised concerns about the costs and the way my case was being handled. Unfortunately, I felt that once I began questioning these issues, the professional relationship deteriorated. That left me feeling unsupported at a time when I needed experienced legal representation. Since transferring my case to specialist family solicitors, the difference has been remarkable. Within a very short period they had already taken meaningful action, developed a clear strategy and demonstrated a level of responsiveness that I had not previously experienced. Looking back, I only wish I had instructed them from the beginning, as I genuinely believe my case would have been in a much stronger position. I would also encourage anyone considering this firm for family law to carefully research their experience in that area and compare them with other specialist firms before making a decision. Given the level of fees charged, I expected a premium service throughout. In my opinion, the overall client experience—including the offices and meeting facilities—felt underwhelming and did not reflect the level of service or value I was expecting. Ultimately, however, my disappointment was with the legal representation rather than the surroundings. This review reflects my personal experience. Based on that experience, I would not instruct this firm again for a complex family law matter and would recommend that prospective clients carefully compare firms before making such an important decision.
