We have been a client of this HR company for a few years. The original agreement was for a two-year term; however, we had automatic renewal to a rolling contract. This was not something we fully appreciated at the outset, with regards to renewals, as it only recently came to light that us was an annual renewal (something I should have checked and would have promoted me to terminate sooner) Throughout our time with them, we have paid monthly for ongoing HR support. Unfortunately, we have found the approach to be heavily risk-averse and generic. Advice often felt focused on protecting their position rather than helping us achieve practical, commercially workable outcomes for our practice. As a growing dental business recruiting dentists and therapists, we also found some of the contracts and documentation provided to be overly intimidating and heavily worded, which in our experience created friction in recruitment and caused unnecessary stress internally. Even by working with them to make changes often the back and forth still causes uncertainly for applicants. When we recently gave notice that we wished to terminate, we were informed that we are tied in until September due to the renewal structure. Seeing as we completed the initial two year tie in, a 3 month notice or something along those lines would be a much better approach. The final issue arose when a small outstanding balance (caused by a fee increase and our standing order continued at the previous amount) resulted in services being withheld. Bearing in mind they brought this information up on a conversation we were having about the reasons we wished to terminate, they immediately stopped providing services until this small amount was settled. Again this approach is baffling as it’s an issue they hadn’t picked up on. We have no problem in paying, the issue lies with their approach to withholding services for such a small amount and give you no time to make the payment either. Given our long-standing client relationship and consistent monthly payments, in my opinion this is disproportionate and disappointing, and telling of their approach to clients. It is a shame as we may have stayed with them. However, based on our recent experience, we have decided to move on. For businesses considering engaging them: • Clarify renewal and termination clauses very carefully • Review sample contracts before committing • Ensure the style of HR support aligns with your growth strategy This is simply our experience, but we hope it helps others make an informed decision.
