I attended Regent Street Clinic on 25 June. As a senior practising NHS doctor, I have a clear understanding of what good clinical care looks like. It isn't just about medical knowledge—it is about listening to patients, communicating respectfully, and making shared decisions. Unfortunately, my consultation with Vali Kaur fell well below those standards. I found her manner unnecessarily rude, dismissive, and lacking empathy. I did not feel listened to or treated with the professionalism and respect that every patient deserves. Regardless of a clinician's expertise, there is no place for speaking to patients in a way that leaves them feeling belittled. Ironically, I have received far better care through the NHS than I experienced during this private consultation. Paying for healthcare should result in at least the same standard of communication and patient-centred care, if not better. The reason I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1 is because Salim, the Practice Manager, was excellent. He was courteous, professional, and genuinely tried to help address my concerns. Without his intervention, this would have been a one-star review. Having since read other reviews, I note that concerns about communication and attitude do not appear to be unique to my experience. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken on board, because patients deserve to be treated with courtesy, respect, and compassion, whether they are seen privately or within the NHS.
